| Morocco: A Mosaic of Cultures is Now Available on YouTube |
I’m very excited to present to you the next film in my unexpected travel series: Morocco: A Mosaic of Cultures. The full film is now on YouTube, check it out.
It is 40 minutes long, which I fully realize that in today’s 6 second attention span economy, is an eternity to ask of people. But it is long form story telling, which to me has a lot of value and has a special place in this world.
This is the type of content that I want to see in this world and quite frankly, it doesn’t really exist anymore. Not in the form that I’m interested in watching anyways. So, that means that I need to make it. Which brings us to now… here we are…
I’ve been chipping away at this film for a while now, it has taken much longer than anticipated, but I’m very happy with the results. I’m not going for perfection, I’m going for progress. When you compare it to the Cuba and Egypt films, I think this is my best one yet. Which has me very excited for the future, who knows what it may hold, nothing else is planned… yet…
As I was working on this, I kept asking myself: Why am I doing this? It’s a painstakingly slow process when you’re doing everything yourself and just whenever you have free time. The answer that kept popping in my head is: Because I love the process… I absolutely love it… and I think it adds value to the world.
It’s very satisfying to have all of this footage, have absolutely no idea what the story is then as you start watching the footage, going through it and working on it, the story just sort of emerges on its own. I’m just the conduit through which the story appears.
So if you’re curious and want to virtually travel to Morocco with me, then what I’d suggest doing is: pull it up on your TV, turn off your phone and just watch while you get immersed in it.
If you do watch it, let me know what it made you feel or what thoughts popped into your head.
We live in a crazy world where entropy is the norm. Calm dissolving into chaos. We’re all just people… We all inhabit the same world… We’re all just human beings all trying to have safe, happy and healthy lives. Perhaps what this world needs more of is sitting down with someone completely different from yourself, perhaps over a meal, and just listening to them, trying to see the world from their perspective… through their eyes. Perhaps that simple act can cause chaos to dissolve into calm.
